September 2022 Newsletter

Welcome friends! Thank you for being a part of my growing community. Each month I will share with you more of my personal journey and things I am learning, teaching, reading, and loving. My hope is that you will find something that speaks to your heart and leads you toward healing and happiness in your own life. Please feel free to share this with any friends or family who you feel may benefit from it as well.

What I am learning:

I am learning even more how important connection is to me. Hosting my mini retreats this summer has been a beautiful gift that has allowed me to meet incredible new women and strengthen connections with many dear friends. I love my online classes for the flexibility they offer and that they allow friends from all over to join, however, there is something magical about being together in person. This quote from Brene Brown sums up my feelings on connection beautifully. “Connection is why we are here. We are hardwired to connect with others, its what gives purpose and meaning to our lives, and without it there is suffering.” My heart is full of gratitude for each one of you and the impact you have on my life. I am so grateful for the beautiful connections I have with so many talented, amazing women.

What I am teaching:

This month on September 23rd-25th I will be hosting the Connect and Reflect Women’s Retreat along with two other amazing women, Sara Greene and Coral Simpson. Eva Ambika will be a special guest offering a sound healing on Saturday evening. This retreat will be filled with delicious food, tranquil views, connection, and healing. I am looking forward to seeing you all there! Spots are limited so sign up today!

My 10-day online masterclass “Foundations for a Mindful Life” is available online. It is a self-paced course that can be enrolled in at any time. In this course you will learn simple foundational practices that will invite you to begin living in a more mindful way.

My next session of A Mindful Life Method begins on January 12th. This is a more in-depth 6-week online course that will lead you on a journey of reconnection with yourself that teaches you tools to reduce stress and anxiety in your life.

Every Tuesday morning at 6 am (MST), I teach yoga with one of my dear friends from high school. Each month we choose a theme to focus on and I teach the grounding, breathwork, and savasana (relaxation) portion of the class and Lori teaches the asana or posture portion of class.

Every Tuesday evening at 8:30 pm MST, I have an amazing group of ladies that join me for a yoga class with breathwork and guided meditation. We have built a beautiful community of women and I look forward to teaching them each week. This is an online class and we always love when new friends join.

Once a month I host a women’s hiking group for ladies in my local area of Southern Utah. We are looking forward to our next outing on September 17th at 8am. We will be hiking Ashdown Gorge-about an 8 mile hike-guided by one of our new hikers, Tina.

If any of these classes or events are of interest to you, please reach out to me for more information or visit my website at https://www.joyfulbalancedhealth.com (https://www.joyfulbalancedhealth.com/)

What I am reading:

I had an opportunity to be part of a self-care event in July where I led a group of women in a guided meditation. The event host gifted us with a beautiful book written by a local Southern Utah woman. The book “Own Your Rhythm” by Heather Speth explores ways to honor our feminine cycle using the lunar cycle as a model. It was an intriguing book and while much of it was a new concept to me, I found several things that really resonated. One quote from the book that I loved “I love how the moon shows up in the sky every night. She is always whole, but only illuminates certain sides at certain times. She is just as subtle and introspective as she is wild and captivating and she is unapologetic about all of it. What a beautiful example. May we show up for ourselves in a similar way.” Have any of you read this book? I would love to hear your insights if you have or hear anything you have learned about the cycles of the moon or your feminine cycle.

What I am loving:

I am loving the cooler mornings and evenings that are signaling the beginnings of fall. I love summer and sunshine and used to wish I lived in a place with perpetual summer. This year, however, I am welcoming the invitation fall brings to slow our energy and savor the little moments in life. What are you loving from this season in your life?

I would love to hear from you and learn more about each one of you. Please reply and tell me what are you most interested in these days?

Sending you all love and light,

Jessica

Some exciting news! Earlier this year I was invited to do a podcast with Ali from Punch Drunk Soul about my journey to beginning my business. It aired mid-August and you can listen here:
