August 2023 Newsletter

Welcome friends! I am so grateful for each one of you and the connections with you through my hikes, classes, and retreats. Thank you for reading my newsletter where each month I will continue to share with you more of my personal journey and things I have been learning, teaching, reading, and loving. My hope is that you will find something that speaks to your heart and leads you toward healing and happiness in your own life. Please feel free to share this email with any friends or family who you feel may benefit from it as well.

What I am learning:

Last month I completed an Intuitive Coaching Course with Christy Carter, which I began back in April. It has been an amazing journey over the last several months and I have learned so much, both from her and from the incredible ladies in the course. Christy is a remarkable teacher and has valuable insights and a gift to really “see” each individual and their heart. There have been so many takeaways and profound insights gained during this course, however, I think one of the most valuable things that I have learned is to seek for deeper awareness. Christy was constantly reminding us throughout the course to notice-to notice words, posture, the subtleties of the body, the energy felt, patterns, nature, etc. and I am learning how very powerful this skill of awareness truly is. Another important insight that I learned from this course is the power of connection and community-what influential healing tools. So much gratitude for the amazing community I am a part of and for the connections I continue making with such incredible women.

What I am offering:

Mini retreats continue this month! I will be collaborating with two phenomenal ladies for the August retreats. Amy Leavitt will offer a breathwork detox on Friday the 25th and Tina Rasmussen will be leading a sacred drum ceremony on Saturday the 26th.

Click here to sign up today as spots are limited.

Every Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm MST, I have an amazing group of ladies that join me for a yoga class with breathwork and guided meditation. We have built a beautiful community of women and I look forward to teaching them each week. This is an online class and we always love when new friends join. First class is free and the cost is $5 each class after. Please join our group app by scanning the QR code below if you are interested in joining us.

Once a month I host a free women’s hiking group for ladies in my local area of Southern Utah. Our next outing will be on August 12th qt 8 am. We are planning to hike a few miles of Navajo Lake loop up Cedar Canyon. Stay tuned for updates or changes due to weather. I look forward to seeing you all on the trail!

I am offering private, in-home yoga lessons for those looking for more personalized attention. This offering is not on my website currently so please reach out via email if a personalized yoga session is of interest to you.

I am also selling homemade herbal salves (click here to view). Choose from Calendula, Pine, Rosemary, or Calendula mixed with Rosemary. The calendula and rosemary salves are made from homegrown organic herbs and the pine salve is carefully harvested from Pinion pines in the Southern Utah area. These salves have many beneficial properties and are a great addition to your home first aid kit.

If any of these offerings are of interest to you, please reach out to me at joyfulbalancedhealth@gmail.com

What I am reading:

I have continued reading the book “Eastern Body, Western Mind” this month. I have really enjoyed this book and have taken away so many important messages. One of the passages that really spoke to me was a section on grief. This year has given me many opportunities to learn more about grief and I have been searching for ways to move through the emotions in healthier ways. I really loved the insights that were offered on grief and thought they may be of benefit to some of you as well. “The goal with grief work is to regain connection with self…. We grieve because a sacred essence within was awakened and then compromised. To grieve that essence is to reclaim it and give it the importance it deserves. Grief work helps us clean the wounds so that we regain our wholeness.” I really loved these questions offered to explore and work through grief. “1. Why was this person in particular so special to me? 2. What did they bring to me that I am missing in myself? 3. What part of me was particularly bonded to this person and what does this part need? 4. What have I lost touch with in myself as a result of this ending and how can I nurture and regain that part of myself once again?” Grief finds us all at different times in our lives and can be so heavy and difficult to navigate. To anyone reading this that is experiencing grief, please know that I am always here with a listening ear and a heart full of love. Please reach out if you need support as you navigate your grief.

What I am loving:

I love SUMMER. The early morning walks with my husband and our dogs, the garden produce and flowers blossoming beautifully, the warm sun, the activities outside, the longer days, the BBQ’s, wearing sandals, road trips, hikes, eating ice cream, and the retreats. What do you love about summer?

Sending you all love and light,

Jessica

I also wanted to share a couple extra happy moments from this month. A dear friend from Canada, whom I met in an online business course a few years ago, stopped by with her family. It was so wonderful meeting her in person and being able to give her a hug. Connecting over zoom is wonderful but there is something really special about being together in person. The other happy moment was the celebration of my daughter and her new husband that we held here at our home. We had a great time visiting with family and dear friends and enjoyed a windy, yet beautiful evening.
