September 2025 Newsletter
Dear friends,
Can you believe it is already September? This year feels like it is flying by. August was my birthday month, which gave me an opportunity to reflect more deeply on this past year and on my life as a whole. So much has shifted for me personally, and one truth that continues to stand out is my deep love and gratitude for the connections in my life. If you are reading this, that includes you! Though I have let go of most everything in a material sense this past year, I feel richly blessed by the quality of people who surround me.
What I am learning:
During my first week here in Hawaii, I met an amazing couple on the beach who shared something that really stuck with me. “Living here in Hawaii requires you to take a really deep look at yourself-to face both your light and shadows. The power of the land and history here offer a depth and unraveling of all that is not authentic.”
I have found these words to ring very true the past couple months. I feel the opportunities for learning and working through my past has been intensified greatly. It has been a bit overwhelming and sobering, yet also welcomed. There are so many things that I have learned this past month that it was difficult to choose one to share. As I did last month, I really took some time to picture your faces and feel into what you might be facing in your lives and let the message that would be most beneficial come through. The message that kept persisting was one that I think many of you may resonate with.
This month, one of my shadows surfaced: negative self-talk and a deeper awareness of my internal conversations. A friend lovingly helped me see, through an interaction we had, how this was manifesting for me. Outwardly, I don’t speak harshly or unkindly to myself, so it was a little more difficult for me to see how pervasive it is in my thoughts. I realized I minimize or dismiss my feelings, use a lot of “should” statements, take blame for things outside of my control, and tend toward all/nothing or black/white thinking patterns.
With the loving correction I received, I have been able to bring more awareness to this pattern and begin to make small shifts. Whenever I notice these types of thoughts or patterns I pause and ask myself “Is this thought or belief really true?” That pause and reflection has given me the power to choose different thoughts and I have noticed a shift in how I feel. I am feeling more moments of peace, clarity, creativity, and moments of joy.
I think we learn some of these patterns from a very early age and they can be challenging to recognize or shift, yet even small efforts can have an impact. What do you notice about your self-talk and the internal conversations you are having? What have you been learning lately?

What I am reading:
I have been reading the book Radiant Rest: Yoga Nidra for Deep Relaxation & Awakened Clarity by Tracee Stanley. I have had a regular practice of yoga nidra the last couple of years and initially found it very useful when I was sleepy in the afternoon to do yoga nidra instead of taking a nap. My teacher recorded a 30 min practice for me and I would finish feeling rejuvenated and grounded. As I have learned more from my teacher, I began to understand that the benefits go far beyond feeling rested and that yoga nidra can be a powerful tool to rewire our neuropathways and shift long held patterns and beliefs. I have loved deepening my knowledge of this practice through this well written book. The author shares a deeper understanding of yoga nidra, ways to prepare for your practice, and offers some beautiful yoga nidra practices. One part of the book that really resonated with me was a section on making choices. She says “We are constantly making choices. But what influences the choices we make moment to moment? This reminds me of the simple but profound concept of desire and the idea that the seed of every thought, deed, and action is desire….When we consistently make choices that deny the importance of our inner lives in exchange for the things that are continually changing and not a real source of truth, we keep looking outward for validation and meaning. It’s called distraction, and by succumbing to it, we are giving our power away. All the energy that we possess is being dispersed and wasted in chasing things that can never bring us lasting happiness.” She suggests that if we explore the source of our desires, we can radically change our lives. She gives these questions for contemplation when we notice we are procrastinating or distracting ourselves. “What am I avoiding? What am I denying myself by not being present? How do my actions contribute to my feelings of being overwhelmed by my life? How is this behavior shaping my life? Am I willing to change?” I would love to hear any of your experiences with yoga nidra and what you have learned through this practice. If you have read this book what were your insights?
I also listened to the audiobook “Rise Sister Rise” by Rebecca Campbell this month. I loved listening to her narration of this inspiring book. I had so many insights and ah ha moments as I listened. One idea that really resonated with me was that of leading from a more feminine way in our business instead of continuing to try to find success in a masculine way. There are times and reasons we need to incorporate both, however, for me I understood I have been operating from a very masculine energy in my business and life. For me, shifting this means to not focus so much on the constant doing and busy-ness and structure and allowing for more intuition, creativity, and flow in the way I utilize my time. This has been a really challenging shift for me and something I am still working to understand how to incorporate more fully. As I have made small steps in this direction, I have observed a difference in how I feel about my work and also how my offerings are received. I have witnessed a deeper impact on my clients on calls and coaching sessions when I allow the flow of intuition to guide. There were so many beautiful insights and understandings that came from this book and is one I will definitely read again. Have you read this book? What were your takeaways?
I am looking for new books to read and would love your recommendations for your favorite books of all genres.
What I am loving:
I am loving that I am feeling more and more moments of joy and peace. Sometimes it sneaks up on me in the middle of my grief or pain and gives me a gentle reminder that both can present at once. That life can be beautiful and fulfilling and at the same time heavy and hard. Whatever season you find yourself in, I hope you can allow those little joyful moments to sneak up on you as well.
What have you been loving lately?
With love,
♥️Jessica
One way those moments of joy and peace sneak in is when I watch the sunset. I am reminded of the vastness and beauty of this world and somehow it helps to put things in perspective, even if only for a few moments. Each night as I plant my feet in the sand and take some deep breaths and pause from whatever happened that day, I am reminded of what is truly most important. I often think “that was the most beautiful sunset I have witnessed” and then somehow, the next night the sky is absolutely stunning in a whole different way. What is a habit or ritual you can incorporate into your daily life that allows you to shift perspective and take a moment to remember what is most important?
